DNW losing street cred.. Big time
All the non-sense Andrew at DomainNameWire.com has been posting about Epik as of late is really suspect… Now I’ve long enjoyed his blog’s coverage of the industry and supported it by advertising on there a couple of times even but statements such as “Regardless of where Epik is one, two, and five years down the road, the domain name industry should support the company’s efforts…” got me scrtaching my head.
I mean seriously, WTF… ? Are you guys for real??! LOL. Can somebody please tell me one thing that Epik or this “platform” (which BTW I can put together on a 4 figure budget in under one month if I needed to) has succeeded in or positives brought to the domain industry other than hype, undelivered promises and making failure a part of day-to-day life and reality for everybody who is involved one way or another for the past year or year and a half?
Things aren’t making much sense to me, and I know it’s not just me from all the dozens of e-mails and comments I’ve received lately from frustrated and puzzled individuals… Gotta wonder what is really going on??! It’s like no matter how many times things screw up, it’s all good and excuse after excuse after excuse… ALL IS WELL? LOL!
I know Rob Monster had some success in his previous lifetime with a start-up but the past few years he has nothing to show for whatsoever from burning over $7M of his personal money with Monster Venture Partners which was funding big development projects on “premium domains” to most recently with the whole Epik mass development dream…
Come on now?! Do your research people and it’s time to get off his dick. Getting old. It’s always nice to have somebody to look up-to, especially in our business which has very few leaders, but he brings no experience in mass development / domaining other than the “celeb” status and cash. That is probably the only thing he is good for unfortunately if you think about it.

Mike – Just to be fair the full quote that you took from Andrew’s most recent article (you left out the last line):
“Regardless of where Epik is one, two, and five years down the road, the domain name industry should support the company’s efforts…and those of all its competitors.”
Even though you don’t consider Epik’s product to be on the same level as yours, you are competing for the same types of customers, correct? Andrew basically said the industry should support the efforts of mass developers as a whole, at least that’s what I got from it.

@ MIKE LAW
his statement makes no sense because he says “he doesnt trust mass development” so what is there to support? lol

Oh and anybody who doesn’t consider Epik to be a “mass development” service or company or whatever they call themselves is RETARTED. Simple as that.
Epik catches dropped domains or acquires them by paying $$$ or epikbucks or exchange of service… They then mass develop these sites on their “platform”
Andrew doesn’t seem to get that or simply ignoring the facts… ?
You decide….

Hi @ Mike,
It’s all good. Your platforms are good; Epik platforms are good; WhyPark are outstanding! You asked:
“Can somebody please tell me one thing that Epik or this “platform” . . . has succeeded in or positives brought to the domain industry?”
The most recent report on my domains with Epik shows a total of: $8.46/week for seven sites, including the de-listed one. I had 8 sites, and sold one off. It’s nothing, and I’m noone, but it gives me hope. I’m on my way! It works out to $36.66/month. Most of the seven were only launched last month, so they need to get going, but one took off pretty well anyway.
This is what it is: your price is good – and you’re on my list to try! – but it will be a while, because the threshhold of $400.00 is high – even higher than Epik’s threshhold of $250.00! Remember, we spoke after I saw your ad for a special on $100.00/domain. Then you made me understand that the minimum order is four domains at a time. I appeciate the time you spent, and I still want to sign up with WannaDevelop! Let me regroup, because right now, I don’t have even $100.00 to spend!
Either with you or Epik or WhyPark or the others, the success depends on posting original content. I am leaning on Epik to request original content from its clients, as I have sent original content for the landing page and tab blurbs for the delisted site first, ThickFoam.com, then the rest.
Best wishes!
Louise
