Latona’s sells 51 / 84 domains… Success !

Rick Latona auctioned off 84 “$1000 reserve” domains yesterday… More than a half sold for a total of around $100k. Not bad… Not bad at all! I tell ya, with the daily auctions and the current no reserve / reasonable pricing format, the man is really onto something. Gotta give credit where it’s due :)

Also gotta hand it to Richard Whitney of Brain Trust Marketing (BTM) for having the balls to auction off all of these valuable domains with a starting price of $1,000 which was more than a reasonable number to get the ball rolling. As always, the market sets the price and the buyers spoke up with their bids loudly and clearly… The best domains sold for a few grand and got bid up by more than one or two people, while the rest took a pass.

The highest sale was BaseballTicket.com at $5,250, followed by FishingSeason.com at $3,900, RoseBushes.com at $3,751, HuntingSeason.com at $3,700, etc… Some of the names auctioned off looked very familiar to me, that is because we actually mass developed them for Richard about a year ago… I guess he wanted to get rid of them, so it is what it is. No hard feelings ;)

I’m looking forward to seeing more of these auctions over at Latonas.com. I’ve been saying for a long time, that people want to auction off their portfolios and specifically groups of related keyword domains. Buyers love those as well. Domainers are collectors… Forget selling one by one. That is old news… So 2002… So Boring!!!

You know, I kept telling this to the guys over at Bido when they were first launching their whole social user powered next generation super duper cool domain auction platform, but I guess they had other plans. It’s too bad. Looks like Mr. Latona’s domain brokerage business will be a force to be reckoned with not only at the live domain industry conferences offline but now online as well.. Wohooo!
