Who is the “traffic king” within all domain news sites / domainer blogosphere?!
I know clearly who it is, because I have advertised directly on all of the top blogs / sites for many month’s in late 2008 and 2009 so I’ve had direct access to lots of traffic and data which I’ve analyzed… But do you know who the real traffic king is? Wanna try and guess who the top five are even? Is it DNJournal.com? Maybe ElliotsBlog.com? How about TheDomains.com?? DomainNameWire.com? etc..
The domain industry is pretty small, so there aren’t that many serious contenders… However there are some people who have set themselves apart from everybody else and I can count them all on my right hand… So without any further ado, here is the most accurate “estimated” traffic data directly from Google’s adplanner for the month of April 2010 and the list of top five traffic kings.
Oh and for those of you who don’t already know, Google.com/adplanner is the #1 traffic estimator on the market today. A lot better than Compete.com, Quantcast.com or Alexa.com. These three services are useful in some cases, but really, they are always hit or miss when it comes to getting a feel for the actual traffic numbers. A lot more times they miss… BIG TIME! The real pros use Google data

Like I said in the beginning of the post, I’ve advertised on all five of the domain industry news sites / blogs above for many month’s in 2008 – 2009 when I was running domain development marketing campaigns to raise brand awareness and I can confirm that the data above is pretty accurate from internal logs.
Also funny to see industry insiders such as Mike Berkens of TheDomains.com and Elliot Silver of ElliotsBlog.com still continue to quote random and pretty wacky numbers for domains they write about on their blogs from Compete.com… Why don’t they use Google.com/adplanner — the #1 traffic estimator on the market today??! Not sure, but hopefully now they will.. After they see this post

Look likes domaining.com has the best metrics except the total volume of unique visitors where apparently it’s 3th.
But that makes sense because domaining.com’s SEO is null (we don’t have content to index) so the new blood we get from SE (usual #1 traffic source for any site) is almost null.
What surprise me the most is the avg time spent in domaining.com per user which look likes important when the site is more acting as a traffic gateway for listed blogs.
So I guess it’s the cumulated time per user (people come many time per day to check news).
In a side note we have today 2+ more members we had one year ago for a click volume that looks like the same so I am wondering if people now only read headlines they found of high interest.
Now from Google analytics here are the ranks of the above bloggers as source of traffic of domaining.com:
8 – Elliotsblog.com
9 – DNJournal.com
51 – DomainNameWire.com
138 – TheDomains.com
Personnally everytime these bloggers have talk about my domain services I allways found a significant increase of activity (visits, sign up, …)
So I recommend them all to advertisers who are searching sites of interest to promote their domain service.
